New Converse Ad Campaign

I was watching the Celt's put the hurt on the Pacers today when I noticed this new Converse ad campaign. Converse dominated Celtic's feet in the eighties and they are trying to capitalize on that nostalgia. Luke Harangody is the only Celtic's player that wears Converse. Rewinds me of the days of Bird, McHale, and the Chief.

Sneaker Rewind: Bob Cousy's Converse

Today we revist the Houdini of the Hardwood: Bob Cousy in this photo from Sports Illustrated in 1956. Cousy is widely regarded as the best Celtics point guard ever. He spent 13 seasons with the Celtics and was an All Star in all 13 seasons. He revolutionized the game with moves like the behind the back pass. It is amazing to think he did all this in Converse All Stars. Talk about no ankle support! These shoes are still available for $45 at www.converse.com.

Larry Bird Converse Wave Conquest

In the early 90's Larry Bird wore the Converse Wave Conquest. The shoe featured the "Energy Wave" cushioning system. I was digging on Ebay and found this auction for a pair of Player Exclusives. The shoes have a ridiculously high starting price, but are definitely a conversation piece as they are autographed by Larry Legend. Click here to see more detailed photos or too bid on the shoes.
